Tymetrias L. Bolden

storyteller: actor, mover, director, writer

"Don't underestimate the power of your presence"

-Alisa Caldwell

I am Tymetrias L. Bolden- an actor, writer, director and teaching artist shaped by the spirit of the South and based in DC. Whether I was playing Mary in the Black Nativity at church or putting together one-person shows for school projects, I knew storytelling was always meant for me. My dream of pursuing an acting career was born after my first theater production in my hometown at Phillis Wheatley Dwight Woods Repertory Theatre.

The turning point in my journey was attending the SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, an acting conservatory, which allowed me to train, evolve and create. Continuing to evolve, I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Arts Acting from Howard University’s Chadwick Boseman's College of Fine Arts. During my matriculation, I studied with Yale School of Drama and British American Drama Academy at Midsummer in Oxford, where I classically trained and learned more about acting.  From my time in DC, I have acted, directed, and wrote for screen and  stage productions with Howard Universit
y, Studio Theatre and Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC). Outside of performing, I serve as a teaching artist with STC and Imagination Stage, empowering young artists to explore the transformative magic of theater and the strength of human connection.

My passion lies in creating art that engages, entertains and educates the community while bringing more love, life and honesty to Black stories. I believe that through the power of storytelling, we can spark connections that reflect, challenge and question the world around us.
